HOW TO USE IT?
When you are joining threaded pipe to use for gas or water lines, you must use something to seal the joint so it doesn’t leak. The best thing to use is Teflon tape on the male threads and pipe-joint compound on the female threads. The 1/2-inch-wide tape is the best choice for most piping, while 3/4-inch tape is better for 3 and 4-inch piping. What’s the right way to put the tape on the pipe threads?
Pull some tape off the roll and place the end on the male pipe threads.
Wrap 3-5 layers of tape tightly in a clockwise direction around all the threads.Cut the end with your scissors.
Apply a thin coat of pipe-joint compound to the female threads in the fitting and screw the pipe into the fitting.
